Yes. Every Saxon Chesterfield sofa is made to order in our own workshop in Bolton, just outside of Manchester.
From the solid hardwood frame to the cutting and sewing of the leather or fabric, every stage is carried out by skilled craftspeople who specialise in traditional upholstery. Nothing is mass produced and nothing is outsourced.
Many of our team have been with us for decades, passing their skills on to the next generation of apprentices. It is this continuity of craft, combined with carefully chosen materials, that gives a Saxon Chesterfield its character, comfort and longevity
A Saxon Chesterfield is built the traditional way, by hand, using materials chosen for their strength, comfort and longevity.
Our frames are made in-house from solid FSC-certified beech hardwood and assembled using time-honoured techniques. Our upholsterers work with full hides and carefully selected fabrics, shaping every button, pleat and stud by hand.
Because we make everything ourselves in our own workshop, we can focus on the details that truly matter. The result is a Chesterfield designed not just to look beautiful, but to last for many years of everyday living.
Yes. Every Saxon sofa is made to order, which means we can tailor many aspects of the design to suit your home.
You can choose from a wide range of leathers and fabrics, different wood finishes, stud colours and cushion feels. We can also adjust dimensions where needed, whether that means altering the width, depth or height to better fit your space.
If you have something more specific in mind, our team will always do their best to help. The aim is simple: to create a Chesterfield sofa that feels made for your home, because it is.
Absolutely. While Chesterfields are known for their classic design, comfort is just as important as appearance.
Every Saxon sofa is built with carefully balanced cushioning to provide both support and softness. Because we make our cushions in-house, we can tailor the feel to suit different preferences, whether you prefer a slightly firmer sit or something softer to relax into.
For added peace of mind, all of our seat cushions are covered by our Five Year Comfort Guarantee, helping ensure your sofa continues to feel just right for years to come.
Because every Saxon sofa is made to order, typical lead times are between 8 and 10 weeks, depending on the time of year.
Once your sofa is ready, it will be delivered by our own in-house delivery team rather than a third-party courier. They will carefully bring it into your home, position it where you would like it and make sure everything is just right before they leave.
Throughout the process we will keep you informed, confirming your delivery week in advance and providing a specific day and time slot closer to arrival.
Chesterfield sofas can vary widely in price, and much of that difference comes down to how they are made.
The materials used play a major role. Solid hardwood frames, high-quality leathers and carefully selected fabrics are more durable and age better over time, but they also require greater investment.
Craftsmanship is another key factor. Traditional Chesterfields involve detailed hand upholstery, including deep buttoning, pleating and individually placed studs. This level of work takes time and skill, particularly when carried out by experienced upholsterers.
Where a sofa is made can also influence the price. Sofas built in small workshops by skilled craftspeople tend to reflect the time, expertise and materials involved in producing them.
For many customers, the difference becomes clear when they experience the comfort, durability and character of a carefully crafted Chesterfield sofa.

Our Chesterfield sofas offer a lifetime of comfort, character, and class. However, it’s important to show your sofa the attention it deserves to maintain its timeless look and condition.
1. First, gently wipe away any dirt or dust from the surface of your sofa using a soft cloth.
2. Using a vacuum with a soft brush attachment, remove any dust from the nooks and crannies of your sofa.
3. Next, wipe the sofa’s surface with a damp cloth, being careful not to soak the leather. We recommend using distilled water to protect the leather’s finish.
4. Leave your sofa to dry naturally, and avoid sitting on it until it is finished. This will ensure your sofa maintains its classic shape with no creases.
For a deeper clean, we recommend using a soft-bristled shaving brush alongside our leather cleaning kit. For fabric Chesterfield sofas, you can use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment to clean the buttons, removing dust or debris.

From wine spillages to ink stains, accidents are an unavoidable part of life. However, you can greatly reduce the chance of your sofa being marked by following our Chesterfield sofa cleaning tips.
1. Reacting quickly is essential to preventing sofa stains. In the instance of a spillage, take a dry cloth or piece of kitchen roll and carefully blot the spillage area. Avoid wiping or spreading the spillage, as this can cause it to sink further into the leather.
2. If the spillage is an oily or greasy substance, avoid applying water as this can make the stain worse.
3. For more severe spillages, gently apply a damp cloth to the affected area, or use a specialist leather cleaner.
4. To remove ink stains from your leather Chesterfield sofa, follow the above tips. If you are still unable to remove the stain, we recommend contacting a professional cleaner.
5. If you spill red or white wine on your sofa, blot the spillage with a cloth. Then, mix water and mild soap and apply it to the affected area. Dab the suds away with a dry cloth and leave to dry.
When investing in a sofa for your home, you want to buy a quality piece that will last you for years.
At first glance, telling the difference between a real and an imitation Chesterfield sofa may be difficult. However, the real tell-tale signs are in the detail and craftsmanship. From having a beech hardwood frame designed to last to the premium leather or fabric used – imitation Chesterfield sofas often use fake leather with visible imperfections.
